We are given many gifts along our way or path.  Some we may not realize at the time and some we know are scared.  Cherish the gifts large and small, bitter and sweet, the ones given through an open heart and the ones given through a closed mind, both are tools to grow, both are lessons to know yourself.  These are the gifts that spirit puts before us, so use them to grow and build a more solid foundation of love for that is their best use.

Our quest as spirit trekkers is part fun, part work, but mostly a path of surrender with trust.  We come to a lot of bridges to cross and a few closed doors to face, but open windows of light will always show a way, so which do we choose.  Spirit knows the way and shows the way, if we just ask to receive and then brave enough to accept or experience what is before us.  The gift comes unannounced, no strings attached only of reassurance and love.  When we view everything as a gift we are blessed even more, filled even more and grow even more.  The gift is always about love, to yourself and others.  How they are received is the test, how are they viewed is the score, how are they loved is the passing mark.

The gift is a gateway to light, a chance to free your self and lead others to their gift as well.  May we help each other for each of us is a gift of light, for each of us is the blessed way, for each of us is a spirit loved.


I received a cherished unexpected gift from a friend, who at the time had no idea of what she had brought me.  My friend went on a trip up North and came back with a gift from a recycled glass shop, not knowing at the time what it would mean to me.  As I sat looking at a gold box with golden ribbon I had no idea of what it would hold – as I opened it and pulled back the packing I was looking at a beautiful golden glass butterfly.  My eyes filled with tears as I looked at it in disbelief and then back at her, she was socked at my reaction when I didn’t speak.

My friend said “I know you like frogs and I know you like hearts and sea turtles, but when I look at you, I see nothing but butterflies all around you and your head – so I had to buy this for you, and I don’t know why?” Still the tears are coming down my face as I said; “nothing could be more special, or more loved than this surprise gift from Ethel who choreographed for this to take place from the other side.”  I know you bought this with your money but I also know Ethel had pushed you to do it for me and you listened to spirit.  She then got goose bumps, and tears started to fill her eyes – this friend never knew Ethel but only heard she was a powerful medium, teacher and minister, but butterflies were Ethel’s spirit symbol.

She had them on her robe for church and hanging on her drapes in her family room.  Ethel loved the symbol, and what the symbol stood for.  It is a spiritual symbol for life after death because of its metamorphosis or transformation from a caterpillar that crawls on the ground to a beautiful, almost ethereal creature that flies through the air.  It has also become a symbol for personal growth, change and spiritual rebirth.  When I am outside walking and butterflies are crossing my path as I walk, buzzing my head, flying straight at my face I say “Hi Ethel.”  The magic of spirit is such a wonder, see the beauty and drink in its joy, for it’s always about unconditional love and support.  Spirit manages to always touch us and show us in their amazing magical ways – take them into your heart and cherish these gifts always.  Ethel often would say “Diana, they work so hard to speak to us, they work so hard to show and prove that the love is still alive, giving us comfort and guidance, so let them know they have reached us, let them know they have accomplished this act of love and joy, let them grow by working with them together.”

With this teachers help from the other side with messages, guidance and love I have carried on her teachings to others.  Before she left the planet she said “Diana I’m going to work through you and still teach.”  This is why I teach mediumship in the old spiritualist manner, because it builds mediums from the foundation up.  Ethel always shared her gifts during her private readings, psychic fairs, teaching mediumship and building her church for others for over 25 years.  Ethel was one powerful voice on the planet and still is from the other side.  Many mediums have gotten and given messages from her still that have never met her or knew of her, her love for spirit and the questing student is amazing and keeps her active on the other side.

Oh, sweet butterfly of my teacher of truth where did you go?
Where did you fly too, what are you experiencing now?
You were to me in a moment of time; a place where only love grew and where joys always dwelled.  Let me fly with you sometime and experience the freedom from these earthly weights.  You are lighter than air, more beautiful than the leaves on the trees, and the flowers that bloom, please sweet butterfly may I fly with you soon. 

Oh, sweet butterfly what secrets do you hold, what did the angels tell you and what mission will now unfold.  You are an inspiration to all you have touched for those you empower and for those you loved so much.

Oh, sweet butterfly show me the way, and fill my heart with butterfly kisses for those my heart surly misses.  Your smile was a light, your heart solid gold and a mouth that spoke spirit words of love and truth did always unfold.

Oh, sweet butterfly still you are my strength.  I thank you and I bless you dear butterfly for the shared work and our undying link.  You just always knew and you just always cared, for love was the foundation, for it was loved always shared.

Oh, sweet butterfly gather and grow for there will be other butterflies soon emerging from their chrysalis, please be ready to guide and help them in their spiritual flow.  May your gathering days be fun, may your flying days be free, and may you always support and check-in on me.  Our time was meaningful our journey a quest, for now it is up to each of us to finish and do the rest.
